John J. Córdova, President Mr. Córdova has an extensive background in public affairs, issues management, and community relations. He has worked in both the public and private sectors. His government and public affairs experience includes 10 years of work in Washington, D. C. and 15 years in state and local government in New Mexico.
Prior to purchasing Hirst Córdova Public Relations in 1997, he worked as a senior counselor to Hirst Córdova Public Relations. The company provides or has provided public relations counseling to a number of clients including General Electric Aircraft Engines; Intel Corporation; Shell Pipeline; Duke Energy; People's Energy; U S WEST; Bueno Foods; the Maloof family; The Heart Hospital of New Mexico; Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.; Parsons Engineering Science, Inc.; Waste Management of New Mexico, Inc.; Northern States Power Company; Sandia National Laboratories; and Forest City Covington (Mesa del sol).
Recruited to Washington, D. C. in 1977 by U. S. Senator Pete V. Domenici, Mr. Córdova organized a joint office for the New Mexico Congressional Delegation, which is administratively responsible to both U. S. Senate and House of Representatives.
After leaving the delegation, Mr. Córdova represented clients whose needs to monitor administrative, regulatory, and legislative activities varied greatly. Clients included the Albuquerque Public Schools, The Adolph Coors Company in Golden, Colorado, various Indian tribes, and The University of New Mexico.
While in state government, Mr. Córdova was the director of the State Health Planning Agency, executive assistant to the secretary of Health and Human Services as well as director for Social Services Agency third-party contracts.
Mr. Córdova spent 10 years with municipal government in Albuquerque where he worked in environmental health, urban planning, and directed the city's effort to apply for federal urban renewal and community development funding. He became the city's first Model Cities Program director.
